Fixed Wing Operations is an element of the Air Command responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Blaine County Sheriff's Department airplane fleet. Deputies are trained how to safely operate these aircraft. Extensive checks are conducted by our Deputies to ensure that all aircraft are safe to fly and do not pose any threat to the people of the County. Fixed wing aircraft provide a unique approach to aerial law enforcement. The department currently operates one single-prop plane, the Jobuilt Velum. This plane can travel across the State in little-to-no time and is able to transport sizeable amounts of equipment to supplement operations, alongside its ability to conduct special aerial surveillance operations from an unnoticeable distance.
